NIKE Doboks Officially Recognized

Taekwondo afficionados who travelled to Korea last year could notice that NIKE company has entered the Taekwondo world at last. Brandnew doboks with NIKE-logo were sold at certain locations near the Kukkiwon. NIKE shoes also have been produced and this meant that finally one of the worlds largest and best known producers of sports gear has discovered the Olympic sport Taekwondo.
Now NIKE doboks have been officially recognized by WTF (see the lates list of recognized products here), just in time before Taekwondo will participate at the Olympic Games in Peking 2008 for the third time. At first, NIKE doboks were available only with black neck (for masters) but in the meantime also pre-dan practitioners can wear a NIKE uniform with a white neck. There are also NIKE blackbelts on sale, but the price is rather high for just a swoosh-sign on a blackbelt.
Of course, NIKE produces high quality and so is the price. But those who like to wear a brand name dobok have now the choice between a lot of well renown international companies. Unfortunately, NIKE doboks are currently sold in Korea only, but as it happened with Adidas in former years before they sold their products internationally through many retailers, there are some chances to receive a NIKE uniform through small independent importers in Europe also, one of them can be contacted here.
This all means that Taekwondo is becoming more and more an important part of the international sports world, as business companies like NIKE or Samsung are establishing contacts with WTF. We are expecting further increase of this kind of connections as Taekwondo will become a permanent part of the Olympic Games in the future.
