The wild card tickets enebaling some of the nations that failed to qualify in the World and Regional Qualifying Tournaments for the Olympic Games in Athens 2004 were given to four countries. They are:
- Iraq (male -80kg)
- Bosnia-Herzegovina (male +80kg)
- Yemen (male -58kg)
- Central Africa (male -68kg)
The tickets are all for male athletes. The decision on who would be the recipients was made through tripartite consultations among the WTF, IOC and concerned NOCs.
A total of 52 nations including 21 from Asian region, 6 from Europe, 9 from Panam and 16 from Africa applied for the wild cards.
