ETU, the European Taekwondo Union, decided in last Executive Committee Meeting this week that time has come to show a common responsibility of the Olympic Sport Taekwondo by initiate an Extra Ordinary General Assembly in WTF, The World Taekwondo Federation. There will, at this moment, be two points on the Agenda

Changing of the Statutes, in order to make the elections of Executive Committee Members in democratic way

Elections, to elect the new Executive Committee and the new President of the World Taekwondo Federation.
ETU made the decision due to several weeks of turbulence caused by the prosecution investigation (alleged corruption charges) in Korea of Dr, Un Yong Kim the President or maybe the former President of the WTF. We still do not know. Letters last weeks received by the Member Federations of WTF came undersigned by Senior Vice President of WTF asking Member Federations to support Dr Kim against the authorities in Korea. Only a few days later information circulated by the Secretariat of WTF informing that Dr Kim has resigned as President of WTF while only hours later a correction showed up that he expressed his intention to resign.
The conclusion of ETU to call for an Extra Ordinary General Assembly shows that Europe with its Member Federations of the Taekwondo family care and also feel responsibility not only of Taekwondo in Regional aspect – the responsibility is also Global and include the World Taekwondo Federation. The raised problems can only be solved by an Extra Ordinary General Assembly where democracy will be the guideline to improve the confidence of the Olympic Sport, Taekwondo, among our Global Sporting friends and Authorities.
