24.04.2004

Organized by the ETU-PR-Committee the first ETU PR- and Media Workshop will be held on Wednesday, May 5th 2004 at Hotel Radisson in Lillehammer, Norway on the occasion of the European Taekwondo Senior Championships. Scheduled time is from 14.00 - 16.00.

The objective of this Workshop is to give the chance to the European Taekwondo leaders to hear from representatives of the written press and the television what the journalists expect from us in order to cover our events, to talk about us, our champions and our sport. Journalists are professional partners who have constraints, needs, working methods and wishes. To know more about them will help us to behave more efficiently towards our communication objectives.

In our modern world things or  events hardly exist if not relayed by written press , TV images or internet. The comunication is the unavoidable way to implement and improve awareness specially for a sport like Taekwondo. Our olympic status cannot hide the huge work we have to do before reaching the level where many olympic sports are in terms of communication. The press in general an its mosts important actors, the journalists must be seen, understood and treated as priority partners. Therefore this Meeting is an important step for the progress of Taekwondo as an international sport as well as the progress of any single federation.
