Welcome
Dear Taekwondo Friends!
As President of the European Taekwondo Union I welcome you to the ETU webpages. Taekwondo has become a modern sport and as such we are obliged to use the communication means of the modern world. It is the goal of ETU to unite the European Taekwondo Federations and to serve all Taekwondo practitioners by providing a fast flow of information.
Therefore I do hope that using this pages will be helpful for you and that this will increase the speed of true unification of all European Taekwondo.
With best regards
Athanasios Pragalos, ETU President

Taekwondo Stays Olympic!
Today the International Olympic Committee Executive Board (IOC EB) has decided that Taekwondo will remain as a core sport of the 2020 Olympic Programme. This was announced today at a press conference in Lausanne. This recommendation will be brought before the IOC Session in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in September 2013, where the IOC members have to confirm it.
One of the so far 26 core sports had to be removed: this was Wrestling. Together with seven other sports (Wushu, Baseball, Karate, Squash, Roller Sports, Sport Climbing, Wake Boarding) it will have a chance to participate as extra sport.
Congratulations to WTF President Dr. Chungwon Choue and all of the Taekwondo people who worked hard for this success!
A congratulation letter from ETU President Athanasios Pragalos to WTF President Dr. Chungwon Choue can be read here.
Notice on Invalid PSS Foot Protector
WTF has issued a warning that an invalid foot protector for PSS system has been marketed to Taekwondo competitors, showing illegally the WTF logo. Currently there are only two kinds of PSS foot protectors licensed by the WTF: one from DAEDO and one from KP&P.
The usage of any other foot protector in Taekwondo games is not allowed and will be sanctioned by WTF, that is, the athlete will be disqualified.

Greetings from the ETU President
Dear athletes, coaches and officials,
The year 2012 was an amazing year for all of us. With the Summer Olympics in London, Sarah Stevenson delivering the Olympic oath while app. a billion people all over the world were watching and 50% of the Olympic taekwondo medals distributed to European athletes, I think we can speak of a great year for ETU!
Europe has proven once again that it’s the strongest continental union of the World Taekwondo Federation and this would not be possible without the continuous effort of our athletes, coaches and officials. Therefore not only me but all ETU Executive Officials are grateful!
In 2013, new challenges lie ahead of us. First we start with the inaugural ETU European Club Championships in Athens, Greece. Although a nation in peril, I am grateful the Greek federation is supporting ETU in organizing this event. In addition, ETU will organize the Cadets, Junior, Under 21 and Poomsae European Championships in 2013. Our Member National Associations are also organizing the A-class gyorugi and poomsae competitions. So our agenda will be quite full in 2013!
Finally, I would like to express my warmest Season’s Greetings to the taekwondo family all over the world and wish you all a successful but above all healthy and prosperous 2013!
Sakis Pragalos
ETU President
